If you are in a shallow league today’s slate is a treasure trove. You get to choose between several pitchers who have a K-BB% over 20% in their last three starts and all who have a ton of upside. You also have a lot of mediocre pitchers facing weak offenses where you can take a shot and actually have it work out. Plenty of options and plenty of different ways you can go.
Today’s Streamer (Under 30% rostered)
While his underlying metrics don’t look great we are taking a shot with Michael Lorenzen. Lorenzen relies on a deep repertoire to trick his opponents and induce weak contact. The Nationals as an offense are about league average they won’t kill you but they aren’t easy to face either. I will say, they seem to hit left-handed pitching better than right-handed so that helps in his favor.
Deep League Streamer (Under 15% rostered)
As for deep leagues, I would lean towards Glenn Otto. He takes on the red hot Yankees so this is, of course, risky but Otto holds a 16.2 SwStr% which is elit,e and sometimes you have to just hope the skill-set shines through.
Mitch Keller in Cincinnati is a decent option if Glenn Otto is taken. Look, Keller has been up and down in terms of command with his last start being on the better side. I’m hoping he can roll it over to this start and start to get on a roll for the rest of the season.
Shallow League Streamer (Under 50% rostered)
Drew Rasmussen is our shallow league option against the Mariners. He has a 31.6 K% in his last two starts and continues to get better and better. Other options include Josiah Gray and Steven Matz, both of which have high strikeout upside today.
Sunday 5/8: Bruce Zimmermann vs KCR and Chris Paddack vs OAK
