Oh no Luis Patiño! We are going to chalk this up as a no contest. Unfortunately, he was only able to face three pitchers as he got pulled with an oblique injury. I feel bad for Patiño because he has a ton of talent but he just either can’t stay healthy or put it all together.
For my own sanity and yours, I want to talk about the early results of the baseball season. I myself am already doubting the season and I know it is hard not to. If you are dead last do not panic. It hasn’t even been a week. Also don’t panic when it comes to individual players because you need to trust your draft prep process and let it play out. Last season I thought I wasn’t going to cash in any of my leagues because I was towards the bottom in all of them. I ended up cashing in more than half of them and making a profit. Just keep on grinding!
Today’s Streamer (Under 30% rostered)
We have to go back to Tylor Megill right? I know it’s against the insanely talented Phillies offense. Am I crazy? Likely. Maybe Megill sees it as a challenge and steps up to the plate? In Megill’s first start he pitched five innings with a 33.3 K% and zero walks. He allowed just one barreled ball and finished with a 14.7 SwStr%. Let’s hope for a similar line here.
An extremely intriguing option is Jesus Luzardo. His fastball was up in velocity in spring and he looked like a much better pitcher. The matchup ain’t easy though as he faces the Angels. Watch this start closely. If you want strikeout upside this is the way to go.
Matt Brash will be making his big league debut…against the White Sox. In Chicago. Oh boy. I wish I could have started him in one of my leagues but I just can’t do it. It is also worth noting that I tend to not stream pitchers when they are making their big league debut. It usually doesn’t end well.
Deep League Streamer (Under 15% rostered)
Eric Lauer will be starting against the Orioles in Baltimore. He has now raised his fastball velocity two seasons in a row and seems to be pitching much better. I think I have seen he might get piggybacked but I haven’t seen any official news on it. If someone knows please let me know. Otherwise, this is a good matchup and if Lauer takes another step forward here he could become a must-add.
Old man Rich Hill could be another option as he takes on the Detroit Tigers. His curveball is saucy and he is typically decent when on the mound. I think the Rays will only let him go four innings though.
Shallow League Streamer (Under 50% rostered)
Tylor Megill will be our shallow league streamer as well.
Wednesday 4/13: Josiah Gray @ ATL (terrible options) – tempted to break my rule and pick Nick Lodolo here. It will likely happen.
Thursday 4/14: Brad Keller vs DET
Friday 4/15: Zach Eflin @ MIA
Saturday 4/16: Carlos Carrasco vs ARI *Streamer of the week*
Sunday 4/17: Nestor Cortes Jr. @BAL
