This is my first Sunday article for this season and I have something to admit. The Sunday article for our streamer of the day is going to be phenomenal. It will be extra long with all tons of information in the coming week(s). It will become a can’t miss article.
Our streamer Miles Mikolas didn’t fare so well yesterday. I watched his start and he clearly just didn’t have it. He didn’t get blown up but it certainly isn’t what you want to see. He let up eight hits over 95 MPH, no good. Overall he pitched 3.2 innings with two earned runs and only one strikeout. A big fat loss for us.
Today’s Streamer (Under 30% rostered)
We have our streamer of the week in Zach Eflin pitching today! Eflin seemed to be a forgotten commodity this off-season, he was a very popular sleeper coming into the 2021 season. Because of his injury in 2021 and potential late start to 2022, his ADP was allowing fantasy players to draft him for free. We forget that Eflin showed some strikeout upside in 2020 and that he has a healthy repertoire. Most importantly, I think he has a relatively high floor.
With all of that said, he draws a juicy matchup against the Oakland Athletics. Their lineup is just…not good.
If you want to try and capitalize on a potential Carlos Carrasco bounce-back now is the time. He is just 25% rostered but if he pitches really well, he will no longer be streamable.
Hunter Greene is of course super interesting. He is a highly-touted prospect with a ton of upside but pitching on the road against the Braves’ offense is super risky. Plus we all know how I feel about streaming rookies, it’s a dangerous game to play.
Deep League Streamer (Under 15% rostered)
Good news! Zach Eflin is rostered in only 10% of leagues!
Shallow League Streamer (Under 50% rostered)
If you are in a shallow league Steven Matz is a no-brainer. Last season Matz pitched in 29 starts and finished the season with a 3.82 ERA and 1.33 WHIP. His sinker/changeup combination worked really well last season and both provided a ground ball rate over 45%. Fast forward to his first start of the 2022 season and he is pitching at home for a new team with a talented defense and facing the Pittsburgh Pirates. What more can you ask for?
