Our streamer yesterday, Tylor Megill, got us off to a great start! I talked about his start in our What You Need To Know article. I’m not only excited that Megill looked great for my Mets but also that we didn’t start off like last season. Last year we picked Brad Keller as our first stream and he lasted just 1.1 innings while allowing six earned runs. I said it yesterday and I will say it again, streaming is hard in the month of April. Way too many unknowns. Keep that in mind and let’s hopefully keep this train rolling.

Today’s Streamer (Under 30% rostered)

Unlike yesterday we actually have several options at our disposal. Our choice for today comes from Arizona in Merill Kelly. Kelly has shown flashes at times when his velocity creeps towards 93 MPH. The good news is in Spring Training Kelly’s fastball averaged 92.3 MPH about half a tick higher than last season. The harder Kelly throws the better the results. We also can’t forget that the Diamondbacks hired the Astros ex-pitching coach, a coach who did amazing things over in Houston.

His matchup against the Padres isn’t the best but it certainly isn’t a tough lineup. After their top four hitters, the lineup falls off big time and the Padres could end up being a decent offense to stream against.

There are three other options for the day that intrigue me. Justin Steele added a new pitch and overall has a ton of movement on his pitches making him someone to watch. His matchup against Milwaukee isn’t the best but if you are desperate it could make sense.

A second option is someone a lot of people love, Josiah Gray. Gray has two wicked breaking balls that are incredible at inducing whiffs, but a matchup against the Mets could be tough and Gray went through some rough stretches last season.

A third alternative would be Reid Detmers. Detmers has some insane whiff capability and like Josiah Gray, he possesses some wicked breaking balls. The problem is the matchup, facing Houston isn’t an easy feat. If he had a weaker opponent I would be taking a shot with him but I just can’t do it here.

If you are looking for strikeouts, Gray/Detmers is in fact your number one option whereas if you are looking for ratios and overall solid performance, Kelly is the pick.

Deep League Streamer (Under 15% rostered)

Merill Kelly is just 5% rostered making him our deep league option as well.

Shallow League Streamer (Under 50% rostered)

You will see a consistent theme throughout the season when it comes to streaming and that theme is to start pitchers against the Oakland Athletics. Their lineup is abysmal. Worse than abysmal, it’s dreadful. Kyle Gibson is rostered in 41% of leagues and he is by far the best option of the day. Gibson is big on creating weak contact and although he has a horrendous defense behind him the matchup is just too sweet to pass up.
